Operation as an Access Point: ( Access Point is the wireless broadcast from one transmitter to other stations. The AP receives the internet over a wired connection and retransmits it wirelessly.)
The ALFA AIP-W525HU can of course also be used as a simple access point, connecting a few devices together.
Operation as a WiFi Range-Extender:
This is a truly excellent feature of the ALFA AIP-W525HU.
By connecting one of the following USB wireless network cards to the USB port of the AIP-W525HU, it automatically turns into a very powerful receiver of remote WiFi networks. And not only that! It also shares it over WiFi or ethernet with the rest of your group!
Very simply, from the management menu you select the network you want to connect to, entering the security key too (for locked networks). This is an exciting capability — for example, if you are at a campsite or on a boat and want to connect to a hotspot that is a long way off and out of reach of mobile phones or tablets, the ALFA AIP-W525HU is the answer!
