The DP4801Ex is a digital radio with ATEX specifications, with 1000 channels that allow communication within a team and the ability to make individual and group calls, depending on whether a private or group conversation is needed.
It is certified for safe use in hazardous working environments and can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres such as the natural-gas, oil and mining industries.
The IP67 ingress protection means the radio is fully protected against dust ingress, and is also protected against submersion in water for long periods.
With a rugged design, the DP4801Ex is built to military standards (MIL-STD-810 C / D / E / F / G), covering a wide range of environmental conditions; the radio will keep working from -30 °C up to 60 °C.
As the DP4801Ex is designed for use in hazardous working environments, it has many capabilities to help ensure worker safety, along with GPS that lets operators be monitored at their exact locations — which helps improve efficiency as well as safety.
The DP4801Ex uses a transmit-interrupt function so a user can get a very important message across to any ongoing conversations. This can be used in cases where an incident has occurred or where new instructions need to be relayed to a team of workers. The Lone Worker and Man Down functions will determine whether the operator is in danger.
Lone Worker monitors the activity levels of the DP4801Ex; if it is inactive for a preset period, an audible signal sounds from the radio, and if there is still no response, an alert is sent to a base station or to other radios within the network to notify them of the situation. Man Down works similarly, but instead of monitoring activity levels it monitors the radio's orientation, watching its position over a long period.
It comes with the standard 2075 mAh Li-Ion battery, giving up to 19 hours of operation in digital mode and 16 hours in analogue mode. (test based on a 5/5/90 duty cycle)
Many additional accessories are available for use with the DP4801Ex, ATEX-certified to ensure safe use within users' working environment and compatible with the radio.
