Omnidirectional vs. Directional antenna – Which to choose?

Omnidirectional antenna
✅ Receives signal from all directions
✅ Suitable if you are in an area with many mobile-phone towers around you
✅ Useful in urban areas with good coverage but a weak signal inside the house
❌ Lower signal gain, usually 2-8 dBi

Directional antenna
✅ Aims at a specific mobile-phone tower, offering a stronger signal
✅ Ideal if the distance to the tower is large or if there is interference from buildings
✅ Greater gain, usually 9-20 dBi
❌ Needs correct alignment towards the mobile-phone tower

Which is the best choice for you?

➡ If there are many towers around you and you don't know which one gives you the best signal, then choose an omnidirectional (Omni) antenna.
➡ If you know the location of the nearest mobile-phone tower and it is far away or obstructed, then a directional antenna is the best choice.

Extra tip: If your 4G router supports MiMo (2x2 or 4x4), then choose two antennas (or one dual MiMo antenna) for even better performance.
